Sorting is a key aspect to learning for children in early years. They should use be encouraged to use deeper thinking skills to allow them to sort objects in different ways thinking of different criteria. It may be an obvious way to sort by colour or shape, but can they find other ways of sorting? This is a great activity to build on cognitive skillS and to gain an insight into their early processesing and reasoning ability.
